In 1989, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office became the first office in California to successfully introduce D.N.A. "genetic fingerprinting" evidence in a criminal case.



The Fish and Game Unit handles misdemeanor and felony violations of state fish and game laws. The cases typically involve the misuse or abuse of local natural resources, including wildlife. Investigation and case referral is usually done through state game wardens.
