In 1989, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office became the first office in California to successfully introduce D.N.A. "genetic fingerprinting" evidence in a criminal case.



The Asset Forfeiture Unit handles civil forfeiture (California State Health and Safety Code section 11470 et seq.). Cases are usually the result of a law enforcement investigation into suspected narcotics dealing.
