In 1989, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office became the first office in California to successfully introduce D.N.A. "genetic fingerprinting" evidence in a criminal case.

District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today the filing of a criminal complaint against Jonathan Aaron (DOB: 8/26/82). Aaron is accused of murdering Valerie Victoria Ankerstrom on October 16, 2009, in the city of Port Hueneme . The complaint alleges that Aaron murdered Ms. Ankerstrom by means of lying in wait in violation of Penal Code sections 187 and 190.2(a)(15). The complaint further alleges that a knife was used during the commission of the offense in violation of Penal Code section 12022(b).

 

Arraignment was continued to November 4, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. in Division 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court. Aaron is currently being held without bail in the Ventura County jail.
