In 1989, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office became the first office in California to successfully introduce D.N.A. "genetic fingerprinting" evidence in a criminal case.

District Attorney Greg Totten announced today that the District Attorney's Office will seek the death penalty for Jeffrey Aguilar (DOB 12/31/85) of Oxnard . Aguilar is charged with the murder of Gurmohinder Singh (DOB 1/23/53), who was shot to death in the morning of August 16, 2008, as he left the US Bank in Oxnard .
