In 1989, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office became the first office in California to successfully introduce D.N.A. "genetic fingerprinting" evidence in a criminal case.

District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that on February 29, 2008, Joshua Werkman (DOB 7/19/74), pled no contest to one misdemeanor count of child annoyance/molesting (Penal Code section 647.6(a)) and one misdemeanor count of furnishing alcohol to an underage person (Business and Professions Code section 25658(a).)

 

The conviction for child annoyance/molesting will require Werkman to be a lifetime sex registrant. Werkman will be sentenced on April 2, 2008, and could face up to one year in jail.
